50 yogis attempt to form the longest tree pose chain as they take their ‘ZEN’ to Neilson Beach

Saturday, 27th June 2015. This morning the beautiful Neilson Beach boasted more than just sunshine and gentle surf as an army of yoga enthusiasts assembled to decorate its sandy expanse with their colorful yoga mats. Stretching their way along the pristine shoreline, the group of fifty participants reached their arms to the sky and their hands to each other at an attempt to form the longest continuous line of Vrksasana (Tree pose).

Led by Carmen Lee-Schneider of Love Life Live Yoga , future yogis of all ages stretched, twisted and flowed their way through an invigorating vinyasa sequence before standing together and demonstrated the true meaning of the day’s event- building community.

“It is my dream to build a community and to offer opportunities like this for people to come together. It is not just about yoga. It is about loving life and enjoying a healthy way to be,” Carmen Lee-Schneider, the founder of Love Life. Live Yoga said after the event.

Laughter, children playing in the sand and even a brief appearance from a sun shower all added to the energy of the event. No one was keen to leave the beautiful sunshine with many participants staying to enjoy the fresh fruit and juice sponsored by Alowishus Delicious.

“Yoga helps me to become more flexible away from the mat as well. There is something about looking at the ocean and sky reverse themselves through the lens of your own body that helps you to see life from a different angle,” said Katie Laurie. “I hope that there are more opportunities in the future to share that joy with the broader community.”
