2016 Yoga Teacher Training & Mentoring Program

After spending two months with this group of awesome folks, we are close to finishing this mentoring program. It is amazing to witness the progress of each individual and how far they have come.

There is no one teacher for everyone, but everyone of you can share your love of yoga with others. Everyone of you is so special and unique, we will never be the same but we will always have something to offer to the yoga community. Do what you love and share your passion and knowledge of yoga and inspire others.

“Not everyone can teach everything, but everyone can teach something. Teach what you love and people will come to you because of you.” ~Carmen Lee-Schneider

Video: “RISE & SHINE” Class

Rise & Shine is a slow and easy Vinyasa flow that will move you through the power of inhaling and exhaling. Smooth flowing with the synchronised breathing relaxes your mind and helps to release any blockage of energy flow throughout your body. It is the best way for awakening and opening up your body.

Get ready to start your day!

Video: Benefits of Hip & Core Strengthening practice.

There are so many benefits that come from improving hip and core strength than just look good from outside, including improved posture, better balance, reduced back pain, release tension and easier breathing.

I created this practice which challenges as many muscles as possible in integrated, coordinated movements. Core moves should engage your entire body, from head to toe. Repeat the same sequence 3-5 times on each side, hold each pose longer and move it mindfully.

If you are new to Yoga and have never done much with your core and hip, don’t be surprised if you wake up the day after a workout with aches in your lower belly, as well as your lower and upper back. Those are your core muscles waving hello and thanking you for spending some time strengthening them.

You might be interested to know that Hip and Core Strengthening practice will helps to improve your inversions. ;-)

Happy practicing!

Carmen

Are you an absolute beginner, thinking about trying yoga?

Are you thinking about trying yoga? … so what’s next? Just show up, head into your first class with an open mind and have fun. ;-)

First timers are absolutely welcome to any of our classes, especially the “Yin & Yang” and “Rise & Shine” classes. All classes are for all levels, they are different types of practice. No matter how much you do, try your best and listen to your body you will always receive the benefits from the class!

Here are 7 tips so you can have a positive first time:

1) Arrive at least 10 minutes earlier to the start time of your first session. Introduce yourself to the coach and ask if you have any questions.

2) Avoid eating a big meal about 2 hours before class and drink plenty of water before.

3) Try to wear something light, fitted and comfortable to the class.

4) Bring your own yoga mat(we have some spare mats if not), a large bottle of water and a towel.

5) Remember, you can always find a comfortable pose to rest during the class. However commit yourself to stay for the entire class, focus on what you can do and take it at your own pace. Remember, you are always welcome to rest in any comfortable position and skip the advance poses if you need to.

6) New to yoga or not, there will always be things you can’t do yet, but there is always something you can do now.

7) It is normal to dislike and uncomfortable in your first class. It can take a couple of sessions to get used to the coach and the yoga practice.

We look forward to seeing you on the mat soon!

Hip & Hamstring Opening Yoga Sequence.

By another request- Hip & Hamstring Opening Yoga Sequence. ;-)

I often come to this sequence especially before bed time, practice this sequence to get the deep opening for the muscles around the hips, lower back and legs while I am resting down on my back.

Follow the step from 1-9 on one leg, try to rest each pose for 3-5 breaths. Repeat the sequence on your second leg. To make it even, some days I start on my left leg and other days I start with my right leg.

Remember, this is the progress from step 1 to 9, slightly bend you knees to start and you can skip the deep poses whenever you want to. I like to close my eyes and use Ujjayi breathing that helps calm my mind and body especially in the deep poses.

Happy Practicing!

Carmen
